These clinics are aimed at pregnancy planning as well as a wide range of contraceptive services. Contraceptive services include advice regarding condoms, contraceptive pills and long acting reversible methods of contraception such as injections. For the initiation of any form of contraception we ask you to see either Dr Johnson or Dr O'Brien, and thereafter you can see Sister Senior.
For emergency contraception, please indicate to the reception staff that you require an urgent appointment.
Smears are usually done by our Nursing Team. You will receive a reminder to make your appointment. You will be asked to arrange your appointment mid menstrual cycle.
This area is led by the Nursing team. You will be asked to attend annually for a medication and asthma review.
This is run by Dr Johnson / Dr Zeshan.
Ante natal care is provided by a Community Midwife in a clinic setting at Acre Mill out patients, Acre Street, Lindley, Huddersfield.
Post natal care is provided by Dr O'Brien, Dr Kaye and Dr Clayton on Tuesday/Thursday mornings. Mums will be invited once delivered.
Mum and baby will be given a comprehensive review including contraceptive advice. At this appointment, baby will also see the Practice Nurse for the first baby immunisation.
We have a pharmacist working every day to see patients for their annual medication reviews and medication advice/queries.
Appointments can be made by contacting reception. This saves GP time, freeing up more appointments for patients.
Influenza And Pneumococcal:
Every flu season (September to January), we offer the flu jab patients of all ages with asthma, diabetes, heart disease, carers and the over 65s. It is highly recommended that these groups have the jab. Appointments are available from September onwards.
The pneumococcal injection is recommended for patients over 65 and at risk groups. This is a one off injection giving lifetime protection. Please enquire at reception if you think you are eligible.
Our Nursing Team/Health Care Assistant also offer several other services such as dressings, asthma and COPD reviews, travel immunisation/advice and much more.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:
It is essential to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel to enable the Nurse to accommodate your request. If you do not give us the required notice, and we do not have the appointment capacity, you will be directed to an independent travel clinic. This will mean you will have to pay for the necessary travel vaccinations.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
Most services offered at Lindley Group Practice are under the NHS contract and free. However there are some services which are not under the remit of the NHS and are therefore chargeable. A full list of private fees is on display in both waiting areas.
